Ask anyone who considered themselves a true gamer in 1987 and the chances are they will fondly remember California Games. Whatever platform you played it on, sun-drenched sports played by the tanned and beautiful were the order of the day. Enjoy the six radical and awesome events: - Half-pipe - Roller skating - Surfing - BMX - Footbag - Flying Disc Appearing in many website and magazine ‘top 100 games of all time’ lists, California Games appealed equally to male and female gamers, something considered rather unusual at the time. Easy to play but hard to master, the game often led to playground arguments about which event was the best… arguments that can (maybe) now be settled once and for all! So get ready to put your shades on, turn the stereo up nice and loud, and go gnarly to the max with a sweet 720 kick-flip backwards ollie. Or something like that, anyway... According to the original instructions... Introducing the gnarliest bunch of games under the sun! Games invented on the beaches by sun-baked beach bums with a fondness for ripping, grinding and shredding - with six radically thrilling events intended to bring you to the edge and blow your mind... and make adrenalin California’s most plentiful natural resource. Wish they all could be California Games Get ready to shred the face off an awesomely tubular wave. Turn a ‘berm’ on a BMX bike and spray up a wall of dirt. Launch a few feet off-the-lip with your skateboard tucked high. And while you’re up there, dance for the crowd. Or if you’re feeling like kicking back a bit, float a flying disk, juggle a foot bag with your heels, or just slalom the boardwalk on your skates. When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro. But this ain’t beach blanket bingo. In fact, before you even set foot on California turf, you’ll choose an on-screen sponsor from among the heaviest names on the circuit. Then, hit the competition route. Prizes include trophies for a single event and a top prize in overall competition. So get air. Go crazy. Welcome to a new state of intensity!

Gamedev.js 2026 submission [ CONFIDENTIAL - INTERNAL USE ONLY ] PROJECT CODE: ECHO_DECODER DATE: 2004/11/04 SUBJECT: MAIN NODE Debugging Protocol [ SYSTEM OVERVIEW ] Welcome to DataCorp. As a newly appointed operator, your primary directive is to maintain the stability of the ECHO_DECODER main node. Due to the permanent degradation of this terminal's graphical interface, you must rely entirely on the manual override protocol. Listen closely to the intercepted audio packets—consisting of short pulses and heavy low-frequency drones—and calibrate the frequency via physical switches within the allotted time. This is a rigid, unforgiving corporate procedure. Random guesswork is strictly prohibited. [ OPERATOR PROTOCOL ] Audio-Only Decryption: Discard visual dependency. You must learn to isolate [ ▬ LONG ] and [ ● SHORT ] signals amidst the static. Strict Execution Sequence: The system has zero tolerance for error. Do NOT press the [ EXECUTE ] button until all parameter switches are locked. Premature submission or mindless testing will trigger a severe system backfire. Operator Reference: If you cannot memorize the base frequencies, refer to cheat_sheet.txt on your virtual desktop. It is the only asset left by your predecessor. Escalating Interference: As you delve deeper into the nodes, audio corruption will spike exponentially. Maintain focus. [ SYSTEM DISCLAIMER ] DataCorp is not liable for auditory hallucinations, cognitive dissonance, or the feeling of "being watched" during calibration. If, during execution, you sense the system attempting a somatic handshake with your neural pathways... Disconnect the power immediately. You are expendable. In 2-player mode you try to get more points than your opponent to win the game.
In Goldrunner, a vertically scrolling shooter, earth has to be evacuated because of the damage caused by environmental pollution. Unfortunately the space ships have to pass through the world of Triton - and the inhabitants are unfriendly. So the obvious solution is to destroy the rings, huge space stations. A full frontal attack is without a change of success because the rings have to be destroyed from within. So the player is chosen to man a small space ship to do the job. Every ring has a certain amount of energy which has to be reduced by destroying everything inside. Of course the Tritons won't give up without a fight, but touching the enemies won't hurt the space ship (it hurts them): the only way to die is by touching enemy mines (the ship can take up to five hits) or by flying against a high, indestructible building (instant death). The ship also has a turbo boost function and between levels there are bonus rounds which are used to rack up points for the high score list.
