Rainwormhole

Rainwormhole

cuneytinan37

Rainwormhole is a 2D portal puzzler about a unicorn who paints holes in the sky.

Her horn fires the cold portal. Her tail fires the warm one. Both stick to clouds
like wet paint, and slide straight off stone.

The catch is where she can aim. The horn covers a 130 degree arc in front of her,
the tail 150 degrees behind. They do not overlap, and 79 degrees of the circle
belongs to neither. To place both ends of a wormhole you almost always have to turn
the horse around, and half the puzzles are really about which way she is facing.

Momentum carries through. Drop into a floor portal and come out of a wall portal
moving faster than you went in: every transit multiplies your speed by 1.12. Loop a
pair and you build velocity until it caps, which is the only way across some rooms.

21 hand-built levels. Nothing is explained in words except the controls. Every rule
is taught by the shape of the room instead: pools of black ink, patrolling shades
that portals refuse to carry, anvils too heavy to lift but happy to fall, prisms
that strip portals clean off, and lasers you can bend through your own wormhole.

Colour is the treasure. Paint is the weapon. Colourlessness is the enemy.

CONTROLS
Desktop - A/D or arrows to move, Space to jump, E to grab, R to restart, M to mute.
Left click fires the cold portal, right click the warm one.
Mobile - on-screen controls, tap anywhere to aim.

NOTES
Built for js13kGames 2026, theme "Unicorns and Rainbows". The entire game - art,
physics, 21 levels and all audio - fits in a 13 kilobyte zip. There are no image or
sound files: every pixel is drawn in code and every sound is synthesised at runtime.

Photosensitivity: the rainbow tube between portals flickers at 7.5 Hz. The flashing
area stays under 0.5% of the screen, well inside the WCAG 2.3.1 area exception.

Sound engine: ZzFX by Frank Force (MIT).
