Drop into a misty pine forest and race a mountain bike down the hill against the clock, then go again and beat your own ghost.
Downhill: Mountain Rush is a fast downhill mountain bike game. Each run takes about a minute and a half down a 1.7 km trail with 231 metres of drop: sweeping berms, rollers, a big gap jump and a risky shortcut. Your bike's suspension and your rider's body move with the terrain, and the forest reacts as you tear through it: swaying trees, dust from the rear wheel, falling needles and shafts of sun.
Every run feeds the next. Hit five checkpoints, watch your split against your best, and see a new personal best, with the exact time you gained, on the results screen. Retry takes a fraction of a second. Race a see-through ghost of your best run, take the shortcut for a faster time if you dare, and earn XP towards six ranks from Rookie to Mountain Legend.
Every day brings a new Daily Mountain: the same trail with the day's weather (morning mist, midday, golden hour or a storm with wet ground) and a rule such as a closed shortcut, a brakeless bonus or a clean-section bonus. Eleven achievements and a garage of frame paints and jerseys to unlock.
Controls. Keyboard: W or Up to pedal, S or Down to brake, A and D to steer, Space to hop, Shift to tuck for speed, R to restart, Backspace to return to the last checkpoint, Esc to pause. Gamepad: right trigger to pedal, left trigger to brake, left stick to steer, A to hop, B or right bumper to tuck. Touch: on-screen steering, brake and jump (pedalling is automatic).
